Working in the melting department, you will work with the overhead crane operator, the builder and the foreman and also with the maintenance and quality departments (team working three eight-hour shifts)


Your main tasks will involve:

  • charging and then breaking and lining furnaces;
  • deslagging furnaces when cold;
  • preparing and making adjustments prior to melting then doing the melting;
  • carrying out tests before and after casting; and
  • in addition, helping to train new staff on the job, taking part in the 5S and continuous improvement programs, and doing minor maintenance.

Required skills and qualities

You will have your CACES category 3 safe driving certificate or equivalent and an idea of general mechanics as well as a knowledge of metals and alloys. You will get on well with people and like working as part of a team.


You will have obtained a certificate of professional competence/vocational studies certificate in metals and alloys.
